Marian M. (Mills) Doty

Marian M. Doty, 94, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at her home. She was born in Cambridge on January 8, 1923 and was a daughter of the late Jamie P. Mills, Sr. and Cora Leonard Mills.

Mrs. Doty graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1940. Later, she worked at the Arcade Theatre as a cashier, also at Sears Roebuck and then she worked with her husband Richard in the plumbing business in Trappe. He passed away on August 13, 1997. Her association with Jehovah’s Witness, and the work they do, was one of her greatest pleasures.

She is survived by a son George F. Doty and wife Shirley of Cambridge, eight grandchildren George R. Doty and wife Marty, Amy Ellis and husband Rob, Jana Wroten and husband Richard, Eric Doty, Jason Doty and wife Penny, Tracy Mendicino and husband Frank, Kevin Griffin and Robyn Barrera, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Carole Livingston, Ruth Cawley, Robyn Clem, Wayne Towers, Michael Towers, Bill Twilley and several other nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Doty is preceded in death by five sisters Virginia Edwards, Betty Jean Yawell, Catherine “Lovie” Towers, Meta Mills and Frances Twilley and two brothers Sidney Mills and Jamie Mills, Jr.

Pallbearers will be members of the family.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 11 am at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Elder George Ragusa officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Easton. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
