Ruth A. "Peggy" (Fitzhugh) Squires

February 23, 1931 — December 1, 2016

Ruth A. “Peggy” Squires, 85, of Linkwood passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Mallard Bay Care Center with her family by her side. She was born in Church Creek on February 23, 1931 and was a daughter of the late J. Baldwin and Lena Elzey Fitzhugh.

Mrs. Squires attended schools in Cambridge. On July 31, 1965, she married John W. Squires, who passed away on February 17, 2001. She was a homemaker and she was a member of the Eagles Lodge where she was a past secretary and attended the First Baptist Church in Cambridge.

Survived by five children Tammy Todd Whitman and husband Eddie of Hurlock, Karen Boyd and husband David of Chesapeake, VA, Vera Cusick of Linkwood, Charles Cusick, Jr. and wife Karen of Federalsburg and Jeffrey Cusick and wife Lisa of Preston, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Squires is preceded in death by a son J. William "Billy" Cusick, a daughter Lena Mast, a granddaughter, a grandson, 11 sisters and brothers.

Pallbearers will be John Boyd, A.J. Cusick, Jeffrey Cusick, Randy Todd, Kevin Stull, Carl Colbourne, Kevin Remsberg, and Scott Aaron.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 12 pm at Cambridge Wesleyan Church in Cambridge with Pastor Jack Diehl and Ricky Parker officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions can be made to Cambridge Wesleyan Church, c/o Mrs. Paulette Meekins, 1108 Race St., Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
