Agnes M. Edge, 94, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Mallard Bay Care Center in Cambridge with her family by her side. She was born in East New Market on January 12, 1923 and was a daughter of the late James M. Cheesman, Sr. and Mary Sellers Cheesman.
Mrs. Edge attended school in East New Market. On January 15, 1954, she married William A. Edge, who passed away on July 18, 1986. She worked at Rob Roy.
She is survived by her stepson William B. Edge and wife Clarabelle of East New Market, grandchildren Beverly Powley (David Simmons) of East New Market and Carl Powley of Cambridge, a great granddaughter Michelle Robinson, great-great grandchildren Sierra Tippett, McKayla Robinson and Austin Robinson all of East New Market, two sisters Hilda Gemeny of East New Market and Dorothy Ruark of Fishing Creek and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Edge is also survived by a special friend and roommate Shirley Souder, whom she did many activities at the nursing home with. They looked out for one another.
Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Edge is preceded in death by a daughter Barbara Powley, four brothers Thomas Cheesman, Jimmy Cheesman, William Cheesman, Albert Cheesman, five sisters Mary Phillips, Irene Layton, Audrey Harding, Betty Wheatley, Shirley McCready and several nieces and nephews.
At Mrs. Edge’s request, her body was donated to science. There will be no service at this time. Memorial contributions can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 95, East New Market, MD 21631. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
