Alanda Louise (Mills) Bramble

Alanda Louise Bramble, 90, of Bishop’s Head, MD passed away at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton, MD on Tuesday, March 21, 2017. She was born December 7, 1926 to the late Gordy E. & Bertha Todd Mills of Crocheron, MD. Known to everyone as “Louise”, she graduated from Crapo High School in 1944 and later attended Cambridge High School to complete two business courses. She had been employed in the office of the Dorchester Shirt Company and later at the Dorset Laundry. In 1963, Louise went to work at the Dorchester Crab Company and continued there for more than 50 years before retiring.
On September 21, 1946, she married Delmas Pardee Bramble. He passed away on December 6, 2014. They had no children.
Louise was a member of St. Thomas Church in Bishop’s Head and had served as Sunday School Superintendent for several years. She began attending Chateau Community Church when her husband was appointed as the pastor. She had served on the Dorchester County Senior Council and was an honorary member of Lakes & Straits Fire Company.
Louise enjoyed cooking and often shared her favorite dishes with neighbors. Feeding and watching the deer that visited her property brought much comfort and joy.
Louise was preceded in death by two sisters, Hilda Mills who died in infancy, and Rosalie M. Arnie who passed away on May 25, 2015. She is survived by a niece, Shirley W. Kailianu and her husband, Del of Cambridge, MD, a nephew, James M. Arnie of Odenton, MD and a nephew by marriage, Jamie Pritchett of Bishop’s Head, MD.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 1 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Larry Wroten officiating. Friends will be received an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.
Serving as pallbearers will be Shannon Dawson, Earl Todd, Jamie Pritchett, Snooks Windsor, Billy Short and Donald Cannon.
