Albanus Phillips III (Banus), 85, son of the late Albanus Phillips, Jr. and Anita Spedden Phillips. Banus grandfather was Colonel Albanus Phillips, co-founder of Phillips Packing Co. in 1902. Banus worked a number of summers at the Packing Co. when in his younger years.
He attended and graduated from Woodberry Forest in Orange, VA. He attended the University of VA for 2 years and then enlisted in U.S. Coast Guard for 8 years. He was a full time real estate broker for 42 years, dealing in appraisals and real estate. He was past president of Dorchester County Board in the 80’s.
His interest were, hunting, fishing, and loved sailing the Choptank River.
He was member of Zion United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Douglas Phillips, his daughter Ashley Phillips, a sister Anita Kreeger and son–in-law Ryan Minor.
He is survived by his wife Faye Phillips of 42 years, his daughter Allyson Spedden Minor, granddaughters Reagan and Finley Minor, step-son Dean Alan Hitchens, step grandchildren Hunter, Lauren, Grant and Dereck Hitchens, nephews Andy Kreeger and Chris Kreeger (Norma) and a great nephew Wes Kreeger.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 11am at Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. Tonya McClain officiating. Family will receive friends from 10am to 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Zion United Methodist Church Endowment Fund, 612 Locust Street, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to the Ryan Minor Memorial Fund CFES, 1324 Belmont Avenue, Ste. 401, Salisbury, MD 21804. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
