Alberta Brooks, 89, of Cambridge went home to be with her Lord and Savior with her loving family by her side on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at UMSMC at Easton. She was born in Ocean View, DE on July 14, 1935 and was a daughter of the late Emory Lewis and Dorothy Lewis Marvel.
She attended Lord Baltimore School in Selbyville, DE. On December 5, 1950 she married William Franklin Brooks, Sr. who passed away on April 13, 1992 and later on November 7, 1992 she married David Walter Nichols who passed away on September 20, 2004. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Brooks enjoyed reading, word puzzles, sewing, traveling, camping, an avid doll collector and listening to Gospel and Country music. She was a member of Countryside Christian Church and she and her husband William were part of starting Countryside Christian School.
She is survived by two daughters Connie Ruark (Glenn) of Cambridge, and Debby Spicer (Tommy) of Golden Hill, a son Stephen Brooks and wife Dianna of Cambridge, daughter in law Debbie Brooks of East New Market, ten grandchildren Tammy Shockley Lynndee (Tracy), Stephen Ryan Shockley (Hillary), Brooks Spicer Hanes (Matt), Frankie Brooks III (Mary), Jennifer Brooks Beath (Ernie), Aaron Ruark (Emily), Adam Ruark (Natalie), Heather Brooks (Dave), Stephen Brooks (Katie) and Tee Spicer (Marcia), 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Brooks is preceded in death by a son William F. “Frankie” Brooks, Jr. and ten brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Brooks, Aaron Ruark, Adam Ruark, Ryan Shockley, Steve Brooks and Frankie Brooks III. Honorary pallbearer will be James Brooks.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 1pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Evangelist Johnny Herbst officiating. Interment will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Countryside Christian Church, 5333 Austin Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.
