Alfred P. A "Al" Jones, 58 of Cambridge, passed away at the Dorchester General Hospital on Monday February 22, 2010. He was born in Salisbury on January 12, 1952, and was a son of the late Paul andA Alberta Stewart Jones.
A A A A A A A A A A A A Al attended schools in Salisbury, and graduated from James M. Bennett High School in 1970. He had enjoyed playing soccer, softball and also enjoyed bowling. Al also attended Chesapeake College. He was a carpenter and had worked in the building supply industry for many years. He had also worked at the Dorchester County Detention Center for Conmed. On September 20, 1980 he was married to the former Patricia Nash. Al was an avid outdoorsmen, and A enjoyed hunting, fishing , boating, woodworking as well as carving decoys.A A He was a member of the Church Creek Volunteer Fire Co. Al had been in failing health for the past year, and had been a patient at Dorchester General Hospital for the past week where he passed away on Monday morning. A A A A A A A A A A A A Survivors include his wife Patricia Nash Jones, of Cambridge, two sons, Thomas C. Tanner III and his wife Crystal Tanner of Cambridge, Joseph R. Tanner Sr. and his wife Krystal Tanner of Cambridge,A four grandchildren, Austin, Joey, Derrick and ( baby girl ) Morgan.A He is also survived by two brothers, Cecil Jones and his wife Cathie Jones of Laurel, DE and Richard Jones and his wife Judy Jones of Willards and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death byA a sister Annie Mae Johnson.
A A A A A A A A A A A A A funeral service will be held on Thursday evening at 7:30 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Mary Ann Farnell officiating. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the ICU of Dorchester General Hospital, P.O. Box 439, Cambridge, MD 21613.
