Alice L. Barnes

Alice L. Barnes, 90, of Cambridge passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at Chesapeake Woods Center. She was born in Secretary on September 29, 1922 and was a daughter of the late John A. and Lillian Spear Busta.

Mrs. Barnes attended schools in Secretary and Hurlock. On November 12, 1942 she married Vernon A. Barnes, who passed away on July 3, 2003. Mrs. Barnes worked for Rob Roy for 18 years. She enjoyed gardening. Mrs. Barnes was a member of the Cambridge Wesleyan Church where she attended Mamie Mills Bible Class, Cambridge Moose for over forty years and a lifetime member of the Choptank Memorial Post 7460 VFW.

She is survived by a son Vernon A. Barnes of Cambridge, a daughter Merry L. Webb and husband Vernon of Cambridge, seven grandchildren Robert Barnes, Jr., Jason Weber, Jeremy Weber, Scott Barnes, Zachary Webb, Christopher Barnes and Carrie Barnes, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Barnes is preceded in death by a son Robert Barnes, Sr. and two brothers John Busta and Albert Busta.

Pallbearers will be Jason Weber, Jeremy Weber, Zachary Webb, Robert Barnes, Jr. and Christopher Barnes.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at 1p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Jack Diehl officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Cambridge Wesleyan Church, 801 Race Street, Cambridge, MD 21613.
