Alice M. Meekins

Alice Marie Meekins, 66, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. She was born in Hoopers Island on February 11, 1948 and was a daughter of Mary Simmons Meekins and the late Hubert Meekins.
Alice graduated from South Dorchester High School class of 1967. She was a crab picker for A.E. Phillips and W.T. Ruark. Seventeen years ago she moved to Cambridge and worked at Channel Markers and had to retire due to her health. Alice enjoyed working in her yard and gardening.
She is survived by her mother Mary Belle Meekins of Fishing Creek, a brother Hubert A. Meekins and wife Micki of Cambridge, a niece Andrea Outten and her husband Bill and their children Kyle and Brooke of Vienna and a nephew Matthew Meekins and wife Angela and their son Nicholas of Cambridge.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Meekins, Wendell Meekins, Richard Meekins, Bill Outten, David Hughes and Wayne Carey.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Mr. Gary Hickman officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.
