Alice M. Parks

Alice M. Parks, 87, of Wingate passed away on Friday, September 14, 2012, at Life Care at Lofland Park Nursing Home in Seaford, DE. She was born in Wingate on November 9, 1924 to the late William T. and Violet Robinson Windsor.

She was born in Wingate and later moved to Seaford, DE with her family then moved back to Wingate in 1947. She attended schools in Seaford. On November 15, 1942 she married Hilbert E. Parks, who passed away on August 30, 2004. She was a self employed waterman. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, family gatherings, quilting and sewing. She was a member of Lakes & Straits VFC Ladies Auxiliary and attended Wingate U.M. Church.

She is survived by a nephew Ernie Dukes, Jr. of Seaford, DE, three sisters Doris Williams of Delmar, DE, Emily White of Liberty, SC, Jean Dukes of Seaford, DE and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Parks is preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Dorchester Memorial Park with Rev. George W. Wheatley, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Compassionate Care of Hospice, 28467 Dupont Blvd., Millsboro, DE 19966, or to the Lakes & Straits VFC, 2103 Farm Creek Rd., Wingate, MD 21675. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
