Alice Drescher Veazie, 85 of Cambridge, passed away at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge on Saturday, April 30, 2011. She was born at Hackensack, New Jersey on May 24, 1925, and was a daughter of the late Frederick and Hazel Learned Bohn.
She was raised in Rockland, Maine, where she attended schools. She was first married to C. Richard Drescher, II on June 1, 1943. Mr. Drescher passed away on October 18, 1968. She was later married to Irving E. Veazie in October of 1984. Mr. Veazie passed away on July 29, 1989. During WW II she had been a submarine spotter off the coast of Maine. She enjoyed traveling and gardening. Some years ago she had worked with Oliver Gore in real estate, and also had worked at the Eastern Shore Hospital Center as well as with Adidas Shoe Co. in Germany. Mrs. Veazie had also operated her own framing business, and had also worked for Congressman Jack Kemp. Mrs. Veazie had been a resident at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge, where she passed away on Saturday.
Survivors include a daughter Suzan Drescher of Cambridge, one son C. Richard Drescher III of Cambridge, two grandchildren SSGT Shane M. Perry and Krista Stolba of Cambridge, three great grandchildren Alyssa LaVey of Texas, Dylan Perry of North Carolina and Drake Stolba of Cambridge. She is also survived by a sister Gloria Lorrette of Winthrop, Maine and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother Lt. Col. Frank Bohn and a sister Hazel Wadsworth.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, Eastern Shore Chapter, 209 C Milford Street, Salisbury, MD 21804. Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. On Saturday May 21, a celebration and remembrance of the life of Alice Drescher Veazie will be held at the residence of C. Richard Drescher III at 2:00 PM. All friends are invited.
