Andasia H. "Daisy" Haglund, 76, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Chesapeake Woods Center. She was born at Ellwood on May 7, 1933 and was a daughter of the late Thomas L. and Mary Reynolds Hubbard.
She graduated from Hurlock High School in 1951. On July 14, 1951 she married Carl L. Haglund. He passed away on February 26, 2009. She worked at Dr. Baumann's office as an office assistant. She later attended Chesapeake College and graduated from Salisbury University with a degree in medical technology. She then was employed in the lab at the Memorial Hospital at Easton and also at Dorchester General Hospital. She retired from Dorchester General Hospital in 1995. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church where she was a bell ringer and had served in many positions in the church. She had also taught Sunday school for many years. She was past president of Zion United Methodist Women and past treasurer of the Easton District of United Methodist Women. Mrs. Haglund was a past member of the Cambridge Country Club and also was a member of Caroline Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf and was club champion. She had been a Girl Scout Leader for some years. Mrs. Haglund also enjoyed playing bridge.
She is survived by a son Kurt B. Haglund of Cambridge, two grandsons Kyle Haglund and Ryan Haglund, two sisters Henrietta Latimer of Novi, Michigan and Lucille Hubbard of Novi, Michigan, a brother in law Dr. Norman Tarr of Belleair, FL and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Haglund is preceded in death by a daughter Ellen Haglund and a sister Florence Tarr.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Haglund, Kyle Haglund, Jimmy Harper, Tom Wilson, Charlie Lednum and Brad Moore.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Zion United Methodist Church with Rev. William R. Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. Family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Zion United Methodist Church Endowment Fund, 612 Locust Street, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
