Anita Starlings Moore, 82, formerly of Cambridge passed away on May 27, 2009. She taught English in Baltimore County and at Cambridge Junior and Senior High Schools and Cambridge South Dorchester High School retiring in 1983. She also taught at Salisbury University for 5 years and at Chesapeake College. She graduated from Washington College in 1949 and received her Masters from Salisbury State. Anita was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist in Easton MD where she was a reader, organist, soloist, and Sunday School teacher. She served as a member of the Dorchester County Library Board for a number of years, was a founding member of the Dorchester County Historical Society and a devoted member of the Dorchester Center for the Arts. She was also a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma teaching society, the Maryland and Dorchester County Retired Educational Employee's Associations, and the Cambridge Women's Club. Anita is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ray W. Moore, her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Dale Jones and grandchildren Valerie and Morgan of Smithfield, VA. A memorial service will be held at Thomas Funeral Home, 700 Locust St. Cambridge on Saturday, June 6 at 4:00 pm. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service.
