Ann N. Embleton

April 18, 1950 — June 11, 2012

Ann N. Embleton (U.S. Marine Corps, retired) 62, of Woolford passed away on Monday, June 11, 2012 at her home. She was born in Fort Dix, New Jersey on April 18, 1950 and was a daughter of the late John F. Nolan, Jr. and Mary Asplen Nolan.

She graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1968 and attended University of North Carolina Wilmington and graduated with a degree in teaching. She served and retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as Gunnery Sergeant. On September 5, 1992, she married Richard D. Embleton, who passed away on February 21, 1997. Mrs. Embleton and her husband moved to Cambridge where she was a substitute teacher in Dorchester and Talbot Counties. She was a member of St. Mary's Star of the Sea in Golden Hill where she served in many capacities. Mrs. Embleton was also a member of AARP. She volunteered at Church Creek Volunteer Fire Company and Hoopers Island Volunteer Fire Company. Mrs. Embleton also enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by two sisters Nora Lambert (Army Reserve Lt. Col. retired) and husband Raymond of New Orleans and Martha N. McMahon and husband Michael of Woolford, a brother Patrick Nolan and wife Claire of Nottingham, MD, two nieces Joanna Nolan and Mallory McMahon, three nephews Brian Nolan, Christopher Nolan and Nolan McMahon and her pet cat Callie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Refugee of Sinner's Catholic Church with Father William Lawler officiating. Family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Star of the Sea Golden Hill Foundation, Inc., P.O. Box 187, Fishing Creek, MD 21634. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
