Ann J. Neild, 93, of Cambridge passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024 at her home. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 30, 1931 and was a daughter of the late Ashton Lee Jones and Ann Hippel Jones.
Mrs. Neild graduated from Frankford High School in Philadelphia, attended West Chester State Teachers College (now West Chester University) in Pennsylvania, and graduated with a B.S. degree in Education from Salisbury State College (now Salisbury University). She retired from teaching in the Dorchester County School System. Mrs. Neild had special interests including antiques, gardening, family history, crafts, decorating, reading and her family. She was a member of Milton Methodist Church at Woolford, the General Perry Benson Chapter, NSDAR; member and past board member of the Cambridge Woman’s Club, Board of Governors, Cambridge Yacht Club; member, trustee and Curator of Dorchester County Historical Society; member of South Dorchester Folk Museum; member of Grace Foundation of Taylors Island, Charter member of the Taylors Island Volunteer Fire Company, and member of several others.
She is survived by her husband John S. “Pat” Neild, Jr. of Cambridge, a son Thomas L. Neild, Sr. and wife Lisa of Taylors Islands, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, a sister Marilyn Lee Underwood of Wisconsin, two daughter in laws Angel Neild of Taylors Island and Teresa Neild of Baltimore, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mrs. Neild is preceded in death by two sons William “Bill” Keene Neild, Sr. and John Richard “Rick” Neild.
Pallbearers will be members of the family.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024 at 1pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Ben Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Episcopal Church Cemetery in Taylors Island. Family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1pm. Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of choice.
