Anna Mae Welcher

Anna Mae Welcher of Cambridge, MD passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024 at the home of her son. She was 81 years old. Her beloved husband, Benjamin L. Welcher died on September 1, 2005. 

Born in Cambridge, MD on August 5, 1943, Anna Mae was the daughter of the late Charles Albert Lane and Dorothy Wheatley Lane. She attended school in Dorchester County and worked in the local sewing factories at an early age. After 26 years of service, she retired from Airpax. Mrs. Welcher was a member of Grace Methodist Church and was an active member of the Eastern Star and Minerva Chapter #50 having served both for 55 years. She held the position of Worthy Matron a multitude of times and was currently a member of Roelma Chapter #113 in Sharptown and Wicomico Chapter #91 in Salisbury. For the last 50 years Anna Mae had been a past member of Dorchester Post #91 American Legion Auxiliary. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, working on crafts and volunteering at the Kitty City Rescue. But most of all, Anna Mae cherish the time spent with her family.

Mrs. Welcher is survived by one son Benjamin L. Welcher, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Cambridge; one granddaughter Katie P. Brooks and husband Stephen; two sisters Rosemary Swann of Cordova and Joan Webster of Cambridge; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Laura Lane Rippons and Luvell Hubbard and two brothers: Gilbert H. Lane and William Lane.

There will be a funeral service at 12:30 pm on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. located at 700 Locust St. Cambridge, MD with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock, MD.
