Anna Mae Slacum

March 3, 1922 — April 2, 2010

Anna Mae Slacum, 88 of Easton, formerly of Cambridge, passed away on Good Friday, April 2, 2010 at The Memorial Hospital at Easton. She was born in Cambridge on March 3, 1922, and was a daughter of the late James Albert Slacum, Sr. and the late Iolia Stephens Slacum.

She attended schools in Cambridge, and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1939. She later attended Madison College in Harrisonburg, Virginia from 1940 until 1943. She later graduated from the University Of Maryland Hospital School Of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1947 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Maryland in 1948. Miss Slacum had worked as a staff nurse at University Hospital as well as the Memorial Hospital at Easton, Cambridge Maryland Hospital and Dorchester General Hospital until she retired in 1996. Miss Slacum later worked for Home Helpers and the Cambridge Senior Center. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cambridge as well as the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the University of Maryland School of Nursing Alumni Association, A.A.R.P. and a former member of the Women's Eastern Shore Society.

Survivors include a sister in law Iris M. Slacum of Cambridge, 2 nephews Lyn B. Slacum of South Carolina and James H. Slacum of Hurlock. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Eleanor L. Slacum and four brothers James A. Slacum, Jr. Paul L. Slacum, Albert B. Slacum and Lake R. Slacum, one niece Sandra Lee Spears and one nephew, Lake R. Slacum, Jr..

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with the Rev. Fred Bahr officiating. Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Tuesday evening.
