A A A A AnnaBelle Johnson Mowbray, 93, of Cambridge passed away on Thursday August 27, 2009, at Chesapeake Woods Center, Cambridge.A She was born at Indian Bone Road, Cambridge, on Aug. 22, 1916, a daughter of the late Edward Johnson and Maude Johnson.A

She attended Middletown Branch School, East Cambridge School, Academy Street School and then high school in West Cambridge. She was married to the late John W. Mowbray on May 14, 1935.A Mr. Mowbray passed away in 1986. Mrs. Mowbray was a lifelong member and oldest member of the Friendship United Methodist Church in Aireys. Mrs. Mowbray was a homemaker from 1960 until her passing, after farming with her husband for over 25 years.A She was known for her skilled sewing and hand-made beautiful quilts, which she made for the Friendship United Methodist Church's bazaars and for her family.A Her love for family was always her heart's desire.A "Mom-Mom" as she was known by all of her grandchildren, was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Mowbray is survived by her daughter, Lucille Willey of Cambridge; a daughter-in-law, Iris Mowbray of Cambridge; a sister, Nancy Hughes of East New Market, 5 grandchildren Robin Mowbray and friend Gary Smith, Rusty Mowbray and wife Vickie, Ryan Mowbray and wife Patty all of Cambridge; Debbie Willey and friend Joe Sarafy of Miami, Florida and Susan Russ and husband, Dave, of Cambridge.A Mrs. Mowbray is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren Justin Hoxter, Monica Weber, Megan Hawkins, Rusty Mowbray Jr., Kristin Mowbray, Kassidy Morales, Katie Mowbray, Phillip Frazier, Myles Frazier, Evelyn Russ and Joshua Willey, plus Mrs. Mowbray has 8 great-great -grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and her beloved faithful companion dog, Jake.A Brothers Russell and Edward Johnson, and sisters Doris Elaine, Beverly Cusick and Rosalie Lindner predeceased. Mrs. Mowbray, along with her son, the late Sgt. Wallace J. Mowbray of the Maryland State Police, a grandson Jeffrey Willey and a great-grandson, Jeffrey Russ.

A funeral service will be held at the Friendship United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2009 with Rev. Mary Ann Farnell officiating.A Friends may call an hour before the service.A Interment immediately following at Dorchester Memorial Park.A Pallbearers will be Rusty Mowbray, Ryan Mowbray, Justin Hoxter, Rusty Mowbray Jr., Larry Johnson, and Payton "Sonny" Hurley. In lieu of flowers, contributions or donations may be made to the Friendship United Methodist Church, c/o Doris Weber, 5163 Maple Dam Road, Cambridge, MD. 21613.
