Audrey R. Lord, 75 of Cambridge, passed away at the Memorial Hospital at Easton on Friday, June 24, 2011. She was born in West Pittston, PA on October 12, 1935, and was a daughter of the late Russell and Nellie Heal Radler.
She attended schools and graduated from West Pittston High and then attended Wyoming Seminary in Kingston, PA and attended Wilkes College where she graduated in 1958. On June 7, 1958 she was married to James E. Lord. She had been a school teacher in Newtown, PA for over 20 years. Mr. & Mrs. Lord have made their home in Cambridge since 1989. Audrey enjoyed traveling, European and American History, boating, collecting shells and being on and near the water. She also enjoyed touring in their motor home. Audrey was a big supporter of those who were less fortunate or in need. She was a strong supporter of the military through Support Our Servicemen (SOS), volunteering at the Cambridge VA Clinic and as an active member of Blue Star Mothers of Delmarva. She had been a patient at the Memorial Hospital for the past ten days where she passed away on Friday morning. Her ashes will be spread in the Caribbean.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years James E. Lord of Cambridge, one daughter HTCS (SW) Lynne D. Lord, USN, of Norfolk, VA, one son Lee E. Lord, PhD and his wife Linda S. Lord of Volcano, HI, three grandchildren Ashley Lord, Ku'ulei Lord and Emma Lord. She is also survived by a sister Nini Wintle of Conyngham, PA and several nieces, nephews and cousins, and the many that thought of her as a second Mom.
A Celebration of Audrey's life will be held on Saturday 2 July at 1:00 PM at Elks Lodge 1272, Rte 50, Cambridge, MD (informal attire- sandals, sneakers or flip-flops). In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Star Mother's of Delmarva, P.O. Box 642, Trappe, Maryland 21673; Salesian Missions, 2 Lefevre Lane, New Rochelle, NY 10801; Wyoming Seminary, B. Everett and Edna I. Lord Memorial Endowment Fund, 201 N. Sprague Avenue, Kingston, PA 18704 or to the East Hawaii American Cancer Society, 120 Pauahi Street, Hilo, HI 96720.
