Avery M. Bechtel, 13, of St. Michaels passed away on Monday, August 15, 2011 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She was born in Easton on March 27, 1998 and was a daughter of Angela M. Bechtel.
Avery was attended St. Michaels Middle School going to the 8th grade. In May of 2011, she became a member of the National Junior Honor Society. She loved cheerleading, but her heart belonged to field hockey. She was an Honor Roll student. In her short life she received lots of awards in many different subjects. She was a very social person who would stop whatever she was doing to give a helping hand to who ever needed it in any way. She attended Union United Methodist Church. She loved to volunteer throughout her community.
She is survived by her mother Angela M. Bechtel of St. Michaels, a brother Quartez Roberts, Jr., two sisters Noah Bechtel and Regan Bechtel all of St. Michaels, maternal grandmother Manie Bechtel of Trappe, aunt Amy Bechtel of Trappe, uncle Nicholas Bechtel of Trappe, aunt Caroline Stewart of Preston, two cousins Cameron Bechtel and Joshua Stewart and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Stewart, Bryant Pinder, Willy Johnson, Trey Carpentes, Ty'Raye Wilson and Ty'Reice Wilson.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 22, 2011 at noon at Union United Methodist Church, 201 Railroad Ave., St. Michaels, MD 21663. The Rev. Emanuel L. Johnson will be officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge and from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. to at the church. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
