Barbara Ellen (McDowell) Adams

Barbara E. Adams, 80, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Salisbury on February 29, 1936 and was a daughter of the late Richard and Pearl Davis McDowell.

She attended schools in Easton and in Cambridge. On November 21, 1952, she married Harold L. Adams, who passed away on August 1, 1990. As a teenager, she worked at Dayton’s Restaurant and later worked and retired from Del Monte, formerly named Chun King. Mrs. Adams enjoyed crossword puzzles, dominos and reading. Mrs. Adams also would visit her daughter Shelly at Chesapeake Woods Center and she also took care of a special friend Lindsay Grieves. She was a member of Souls Harbor Church of God, and a past member of the Cambridge Moose Lodge.

She is survived by three daughters Sharon L. Spear and husband Mike of Cambridge, Shelly L. Landon of Cambridge and Susan L. Shorter of Cambridge, four grandchildren Mary Ellen Hill and husband JD, Michelle Price and husband Chris, Adam Spear and BJ Shorter and wife Jenny, nine great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, two sisters Martha Rayne of Milford, DE and Vivian L. Owens of Cambridge and several nieces. Besides her husband, Mrs. Adams is preceded in death by a granddaughter Jamie Ellis, a sister Dorothy Lloyd and two nephews William Scott and Sonny Lloyd.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 1 pm at Souls Harbor Church of God with Rev. Roy Collins officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Souls Harbor Church of God, 718 Peach Blossom Ave., Cambridge, MD 21613.
