Barbara Elizabeth (Brooks) Thompson

Barbara E. Thompson, 80, of Madison passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Baltimore on October 5, 1936 and was a daughter of the late Howard “Boh” Brooks and Emma Miller Brooks.

Mrs. Thompson graduated from Catholic High School in Baltimore class of 1954. On December 2, 1982, she married Herbert F. “Peewee” Thompson who passed away on September 16, 2016. She retired from Bell Atlantic Phone Company. Mrs. Thompson enjoyed reading, painting, karaoke and spending time with family and friends.  She was a member of the Moose Lodge.

She is survived by her god children Heather Nash and husband Chris of Madison, Samantha Barshinger and husband Tim of Manchester, MD, and several aunts and cousins. Mrs. Thompson is also survived by her beloved dog Rex. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Thompson is preceded in death by a godson Scott Zembas.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 2 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Mary Ann Farnell officiating. Interment will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
