Barbara A. Wozny, 86, of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Denton. She was born in Cambridge on October 25, 1930 and was a daughter of the late Persley and Verene Wirz Vickers.
After graduating from Cambridge High School in 1947, she attended Beauty School in New York City. She married Philip Wozny on March 24, 1958, who passed away on September 17, 2016. They traveled the world before settling in Cambridge to raise their family. Mrs. Wozny, became a homemaker and then worked for the Dorchester County Public Schools in Food Service. She retired as Cafeteria Manager. Mrs. Wonzy enjoyed playing cards with family and friends and watching her favorite team, the Baltimore Orioles.
She is survived by a son Eddie Wozny and his wife Becky of Cambridge, a daughter Lynda Wozny of Denton, three grandchildren, Brian Wozny and his wife Audrey of Cambridge, Sara Coulbourn and her husband Kevin of Cambridge, and Hunter Wozny of Baltimore, two great grandchildren, River Wozny and Delaney Dodd, both of Cambridge, a sister Jean Foxwell of Cambridge. Besides her parents and her husband of 59 years, Phil Wozny, Mrs. Wozny is preceded in death by three sisters Carolyn Jones, Shirley Foxwell and Rosalina Whiteley, two brothers Edward Vickers and Sonny Vickers.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 1 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. William Davis officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Compass Regional Hospice, 255 Comet Drive, Centreville, MD 21617 or to James G. Busick Tennis Foundation, P.O. Box 904, Cambridge, MD 21613.
