Barry Watson Adkins

Barry W. Adkins of Cambridge, MD, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024 due to a motorcycle accident. He was 75 years old. 

Born in Cambridge, Mr. Adkins was the son of the late John E. Adkins and Grace Lewis Adkins. Barry completed his GED and took several college courses while in the Army. He married his wife Frances on October 16, 1972 and they started a military life. After a 21 year career as an Army Vietnam Era Veteran, he worked for Bramble as a diesel mechanic for 25 years. After Barry’s second retirement, he worked as a driver for Preston Ford and currently Auto Zone in Cambridge. 

Mr. Adkins was a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ and a member of the Tuckahoe Steam & Gas Association. He could fix anything with a motor and cherished his 1968 Mustang. But most of all, he loved his wife and daughter. Barry will be missed at all the car shows and street rod events he attended.

Barry is survived by his wife, Frances Batchelor Adkins; a daughter: Frances L. Adkins; a brother, John Adkins; one niece Tammy Adkins; two nephews: John Adkins, Jr. and Thomas Barry; and three great nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two children: Barry Watson Adkins, Jr. and Barrilynn Adkins.

 A public viewing/visitation will be from 10 to 11 on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 5401 Whitehall Road, Cambridge, MD followed by an 11 funeral service. The interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock, MD.
