Bessie S. McGlaughlin

Bessie S. McGlaughlin, 84, of Cambridge passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Dorchester General Hospital. She was born in Cambridge on June 2, 1928 and was a daughter of the late Calvin and Sylvia Tyler Stewart.
Mrs. McGlaughlin graduated from Cambridge High School and attended nursing school in Cambridge. On February 14, 1947, she married Willis L. McGlaughlin, Sr. She was a LPN for 14 years, a homemaker and later worked for Dorchester County Public Schools in the cafeteria and retired with 20 years of service. Mrs. McGlaughlin enjoyed sitting on her porch, loved her family and enjoyed cooking. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church since March 23, 1975.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Willis L. McGlaughlin, Sr. of Cambridge, three children Rhonda Heinecke and husband Daniel of Berlin, Debbie Fitzhugh and husband Ricky of Cambridge and Stewart McGlaughlin and wife Paige of High Point, NC, four grandchildren Jessica Hodde, Allie Fitzhugh, Peyton McGlaughlin and Emmie McGlaughlin, a sister Barbara Ann Foreman of Seaford, DE and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mrs. McGlaughlin is preceded in death by a son W. Lewis McGlaughlin, Jr., a sister Kathleen LeCompte and three brothers Wallace Stewart, Calvin "Sonny" Stewart and Frank Stewart.
Pallbearers will be Dan Heinecke, Ricky Fitzhugh, Benny Horseman, Stewart McGlaughlin, Jira McGlaughlin and Dave Kowitski. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Fisher, Gerry Horney and Eddie McGlaughlin.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Christina Blake officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
