Betty Mae Harmon

Betty Mae Harmon, 80 of Cambridge, passed away on Friday August 8, 2008 at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge. She was born in Cambridge on November 16, 1927 and was a daughter of the late Walter D. and Nettie Warfield Jones.

A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A Betty attended Cambridge area schools and worked for over 40 years as the back store floor lady at McCrory's Department store in downtown Cambridge. She was known for her love of family and devoted most of her retired life taking care of her grandchildren.

A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A She is survived by her three children Pastor Joyce Wheatley and her husband Pastor George W. Wheatley, Jr. of Cambridge, James Harmon and his wife Wanda Harmon of Denton and Donald Harmon of Annapolis. She is also survived by four grandchildren Scott Wheatley of Hurlock, Cathi Jo Wheatley of Cambridge, Megan Harmon of Denton and Greg Harmon also of Denton, one great granddaughter, Marie Wilson of Easton, four sisters Hazel McWilliams, Mildred Spedden, Mary Ann Moore all of Cambridge and Shirley Smith of New Castle, Delaware, two sisters in law Catherine (Kitty) Jones of Cambridge and Marie Price of Bear, Delaware. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers William Jones and Howard Jones.

A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A graveside service will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, August 11, 2008 at Dorchester Memorial Park with the Rev. George W. Wheatley officiating. Pallbearers will be her nephews Ray Jones, Walter Jones, Allen Jones, Gary Jones, Jim Smith and Wally Spedden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty's name to the Jubilee Christian Fellowship Church, 415 Academy Street, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A.
