Beulah J. Blades, 79, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Hospice of St. Mary’s in Callaway, MD. She was born on December 24, 1937 and was a daughter of the late Phillip and Mazie Corbin Hughes.
She graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1955. On October 27, 1956, she married Charles B. Blades, who passed away on January 27, 2007. Mrs. Blades worked at High Spot until they closed and later worked at Chesapeake Treasure with her sister Phyllis and brother in law the late Dorsey Shockley. She enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by a daughter Julie Blades Howd and husband Don of Hollywood, MD, a daughter in law Tina Blades of Cambridge, five grandchildren Tyler Todd (Jessica), G.J. Dawson (Brianna), Tristan Blades, Shelby Blades and Donald Howd III, three great grandchildren Destini, Ian and Jaxsen, a brother Sammy Hughes of Madison, five sisters Minnie Hall of Fishing Creek, Lottie Willoughby of Cambridge, Phyllis Shockley of Fishing Creek, Evelyn Bloom of East New Market and Elsie Jones of Hebron and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Blades is preceded in death by a son Phillip Andrew Blades, two brothers Guy Hughes and Alfred Hughes, and three brothers in law Bobby Hall, Dorsey Shockley and Howard Bloom.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 2 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Thomas Funeral Home, P.A., 700 Locust Street, Cambridge, MD 21613 to help defray funeral cost.
