Beverly A. Burton, 82, of Cambridge passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at her home. She was born in Cambridge on August 26, 1939 and was a daughter of the late Robert and Mary Marie Ewell Smith.
Mrs. Burton graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1957. On June 29, 1959, she married James “Jimmy” Burton, who passed away on June 17, 2019. She worked at the Unemployment Office in Cambridge. Mrs. Burton enjoyed traveling, shopping, boating and antiques. Mrs. Burton would like to thank her friends and neighbors for the compassion and care for her.
She is survived by Carol Brohawn and husband Ray of Cambridge who was raised as sisters, a god daughter Roxanne Snelling and husband Bob of East New Market, cousins Garry Ewell (Jeri) of Selbyville, DE, Mary Ellen Leaverton (Reed) of Centreville, Donnie Smith of New Jersey, Shirley Boyle (Mike) of Cordova, Garland “Buddy” Swann (Rosemary) of Cordova, Lennie Swann (Renee) of Easton and Jill Cohey (Mike) of Chestertown. She is also survived by special family member Donna Buckley and companion Andy and Darrell Brohawn and wife Patti. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Burton is preceded in death by six cousins Barbara Ewell, Sonny Ewell, Wayne Langford, Freddie Ewell, Peggy Ewell and Jack Smith.
Pallbearers will be Bob Snelling, Darrell Brohawn, Donnie Burton, Jordan Wooten, Travis Jenkins and Larry Ziggler. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Crismond and Eugene Henry.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 12 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Randall T. Blackmon officiating. Interment will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1315 Mt. Herman Road, Suite D, Salisbury, MD 21804.
