Beverly A. (Allen) Onslow

Beverly Carole Allen Onslow, 84, of Fishing Creek passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born on December 23, 1937 in New Britain, CT and was a daughter of the late Carleton and Margaret Holland Allen.

She graduated from New Britain High School class of 1955 and then went on to graduate from Teacher’s College of Connecticut, now named Central Connecticut State University in 1959. Mrs. Onslow taught at Israel Putnam Elementary School from 1959 to 1960, then went on to teach at the Early Childhood Center at the San Jose Episcopal Day School in Jacksonville, FL, and later became a substitute and Home School teacher for Dorchester County Schools. She earned a certificate in Forest Management from University of Maryland.

Mrs. Onslow was an active member of Old Trinity Church for 40 years, twice member of the Vestry, dedicated member of ECW, Flower Committee, Altar Guild and treasurer of ECW. She was also a member of the Order of Rainbow for Girls, The Daughters of the King (an order of prayer and services for women of the Episcopal Church).

She resided in Fishing Creek, MD for many years. She had a great love of art in many forms and spent her time enjoying every day the beauty of the Chesapeake Bay had to offer.

She is survived by her son Richard Allen Onslow and wife Tracy Campbell Onslow, two grandsons Richard Ethan Onslow and Noah Campbell Onslow, a brother John Wade Allen, two nieces Linda Allen and Courtney Allen, a nephew John Kristopher Allen. Besides her parents, Mrs. Onslow was preceded in death by her husband Vincent L. Onslow USN (ret.)

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 11am at Old Trinity Church with Father Dan Dunlap officiating. Interment will follow at the adjoining churchyard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Shriner’s Children Hospital or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
