Blanche Jacobs (Shuler) Postelnek

December 28, 1929 — August 8, 2015

Blanche J. Postelnek, 85, of Cambridge, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Chesapeake Woods Center. She was born in New York City on December 28, 1929 and was a daughter of the late George and Blanche Stewart Shuler.

She graduated from Midwood High School and also graduated from Goddard College with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Mrs. Postelnek was a child research psychologist. In 1952 she married Gabriel H.L. Jacobs and the marriage ended in divorce.  On November 30, 1986, she married Paul E. Postelnek, who passed away on May 11, 2006. She enjoyed listening to music, was an avid reader and enjoyed a variety of art.  She had worked as a ‘docent’ at   “The Museum of Indian Art and Culture” in Santa Fe New Mexico.

She is survived by four children Jon Jacobs and wife Rita of Cambridge, Seth Jacobs and wife Martha Johnson of Argyle, NY, Jennifer Lehmann and husband Kurt of Derwood, MD, Susan Churchill and husband Steve of Derwood, MD, two stepchildren Barbara Postelnek of San Diego and Allan Postelnek of Albuquerque, and six grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Friday August 14, 2015 at 2p.m. at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veteran’s Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
