Bonnie Robbins (Robbins) Rimpo

Bonnie Robbins Rimpo, of Cambridge, passed away on December 16, 2015 at her home.  She was born in Toddville, MD on September 14, 1923, daughter to the late Allie and John Robbins.  She is survived by her sister in law, Jari S. Robbins of Cambridge, and two step- sons Charles Rimpo and Timothy Rimpo and their families, several cousins, and a special cousin Vicky Trego Hill.

She was married to Robert Schacher.  After his early death she married Maurice Rimpo, who died in 2001.  She was also preceded in death by three brothers John Robbins, Jr., Lindy Robbins and Gene Robbins, two sisters Edna Robbins and Glady Robbins

Bonnie was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County, earned a Bachelor of Science degree at University of Maryland College Park and a Masters degree from Johns Hopkins University.  She retired in 1984 after a career as an educator in Baltimore and Dorchester County.

For many years she was a member of St. Paul’s Methodist Church.  Since 2007 she has been an active member of Christ Episcopal Church serving on the Altar Guild, weekly at the food bank, and with the Episcopal Church Women.  Since her retirement she was an active volunteer in the community.  She served 30 years and was a past president of the Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary, past president and member of the Cambridge Women’s Club since 1980, served on the board of the Old Trinity Church Association and Friends of the Dorchester County Public Library, a life member of the Blackwater Wildlife Refuge and volunteered with the Dorchester Center for the Arts and Pleasant Day.

Her body was donated to the Anatomy Board of Maryland for medical research.

A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 11 am.  You may visit with the family one hour before the service at the Church. Memorial contributions can be made to Christ Episcopal Church, 601 Church St., Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
