Bradley K. Bradford

Bradley K. Bradford, 81, of Lakesville passed away on Friday, November 16, 2012 at Dorchester General Hospital. He was born in Lakesville on May 28, 1931 and was a son of the late A. Kenneth Bradford and Olivia Wroten Bradford.

Mr. Bradford graduated from Crapo High School class 1948. On March 14, 1953, he married the former Peggy Robinson. He was a welder at Cambridge Wire Cloth and was also a waterman. Later, he enter into the Tidewater Fishery graduating in the first class of the newly formed academy now known as the Natural Resource Police Marine Division for eight years and the next twenty one, Mr. Bradford worked as the field superintendent of the Oyster Propagation. After retirement, he returned as a waterman and a farmer. He enjoyed building his Martin houses and spending time with his friends at the dock. He was a member of Cambridge Lodge # 66, A.F. & A.M., Tall Cedars, Eastern Star Roelma Chapter #113, MCEA where he served as secretary and president and was also a lifetime member of Lakes-Straits Volunteer Fire Company where he served several offices.

He is survived by his wife Peggy J. Bradford of Lakesville, two sons Randy L. Bradford and wife Linda of Cambridge and Dennis Ray Bradford and wife Kathi of Cambridge, three grandchildren Jordan K. Bradford and wife Rebecca of Strasburg, VA, Sarah Bradford of Cambridge and Kenneth Bradford of Cambridge, a sister Mildred Wells and husband Lewis of Edgewater, FL and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Mr. Bradford is preceded in death by a granddaughter Mary Katherine Bradford and a sister Mary Pritchett.

Pallbearers will be William "Snooks" Windsor, O'Neal Windsor, Tony Hayden, Garland Swann, Vernon Morris, Mark Hunsberger, Chuck Kelly and Jim Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Childs, Dave Schofield, Leroy Bell, Henry Gootee, Crawford Windsor, Dr. Noman Thanwy, Dwayne Paul and Ed Clark.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. David L. Kreek officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
