Brenda L. North

Brenda Lee North, 71, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at her home. She was born in Cambridge on October 4, 1943 to the late Ralph F. and Edith Creighton Asplen.

Mrs. North attended schools in Cambridge. In her early years she was a homemaker, but later became a seamstress, working from home and for Dorchester Canvas. Brenda was a local leader of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and was the team captain for her walk-a-thon team "Still Rocking and Rolling", a member of AARP and St. Mary Refuge of Sinners. She was also a board member of the Eastern Shore Center of Independent Living where she was appointed by Governor Glendening to the state level. Mrs. North enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting, watching the Orioles and the Shore Birds and spending time with her beloved cat Earl Grey.

Brenda is survived by her four children Debbie Murphy and husband Tom of Cambridge, Tim North and companion Dori of Trappe, Terri Greene and husband Michael of Virginia Beach, VA, Pam Elliott and husband Duane of East New Market and Sandra Perez of Cambridge who she considered a daughter, four grandchildren Mandy Peters, Jessica Trice, Bradley Elliott and Matthew Elliott, two great grandchildren Zachary and Myra Peters, a brother Michael R. Asplen of Cambridge, her paternal uncle Eugene Creighton of Cambridge, her special care providers Hattie Redmond, Karen Bryant, several other care providers and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Zachary Peters, Bradley Elliott, Matthew Elliott, Phil Rodriquez, Mike Greene and Steve Tull.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary Refuge of Sinners with Father William Lawler officiating. Burial will be private. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Refuge of Sinners, P.O. Box 218, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to Kitty City Rescue, P.O. Box 1259, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
