Bret R. Thompson, 50, of Fishing Creek passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at his home. He was born in Groton, CT on October 6, 1968 and was a son of Gary R. and Nina Predham Thompson.
He was born in Connecticut and raised in Point Pleasant, NJ. Bret served in the U.S. Army, where he served in Desert Storm, and was stationed in Germany. He was also an Army Ranger. Bret was owner/operator of Jassidy Transport. On August 25, 2012, he married the former Beth Bute. He was an HAM Radio Operator, where he received numerous awards. He was an avid Sit Skier, bike riding, hunting, fishing, and enjoyed horses. Bret also was involved with the Cub Scouts with his son Jacob and was also a past president of Hoopers Island Volunteer Fire Company.
He is survived by his wife Beth Thompson of Fishing Creek, five children Sara, Jasmine, Cassidy, Lani and Jacob, his parents Gary and Nina Thompson of Cambridge, a brother Scot Thompson and wife Jen of Florida.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 11 am at Bay Country Church with Pastor Jayson Bleyer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Coastal Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
