C. Lee Harrison, 97 of Cambridge, passed away at his home on Sunday July 31, 2011. He was born at Trappe on May 29, 1914, and was a son of the late Samuel F. and Alice Patchett Harrison.
Lee attended schools in Cordova and was general manager of Langs Farms from 1938 until 1950. He owned and operated his own timber business for 25 years, retiring in 1975. Lee was a former member of the Tri-State Sportsman's Club, Moose Lodge and was currently a member of Cambridge Elks Lodge No. 1272. Lee had also been a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Cambridge for a number of years. On May 29, 1981 Lee was married to the former Betty Meekins Harrison. He enjoyed duck hunting as well as horseshoe pitching. He had been in failing health for the past 15 months when he passed away at his home on Sunday evening.
Survivors include his wife Betty M. Harrison of Cambridge, five children, Peggy James of Cambridge, Joan Stump and her husband Robert Stump of Cambridge, Franklin Harrison and his wife Barbara Harrison of Cambridge, Jimmy C. Harrison and Kathy Harrison of Easton, William L. Harrison and his wife Som Harrison of Augusta, GA, one step son Marion L. "Buck" Wheatley, Jr. of Cambridge. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, four sisters Mildred H. Lewis of Cambridge, Elizabeth H. Bringman of Oxford, Catherine H. Wright of Preston and Dorothy H. Wilkins and her husband Ernest Wilkins of Salisbury, three brothers B. Hope Harrison and his wife Willa Harrison of St. Michaels, and Charles T. Harrison and his wife Margaret Harrison of Easton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two wives Susie M. Harrison who passed away on June 26, 1970 and Elizabeth H. Harrison who passed away on February 24, 1974, four brothers Alvin Harrison, Clark Harrison Earl Harrison and Elwood Harrison and two sisters Myrtle Walker and Helen Williams, and a step son Jay Allen Wheatley, who passed away on August 8, 1989.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday August 3rd at 1:00 PM at Zion United Methodist Church in Cambridge with the Rev. William R. Davis and the Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during the hour preceding the service. Pallbearers will be Eddie James, Timothy James, John Harrison, Steven Harrison, J.R. Harrison and Troy Ellis.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Endowment Fund of Zion United Methodist Church, 612 Locust Street, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to the American Diabetes Association, 114 Baptist Street, Salisbury, MD 21801. Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
