C. Edgar Shenton, Jr

C. Edgar Shenton, Jr., 70 of Seaford formerly of Cambridge, passed away at his home on Tuesday December 29, 2009. He was born in Cambridge on May 29, 1939 and was a son of the late Charles Edgar and Florence Virginia Geib Shenton, Sr.

He attended schools in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1957. As a teenager he had been active in the Boy Scouts and had earned his Eagle Scout. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on November 13, 1957. While serving in the Air Force he had been stationed in Japan. He was Honorably Discharged on November 9, 1961. Ed had worked at the Dorchester Co. Dept of Social Services for a number of years. For many years he worked with antiques and had owned and operated Seaford Antiques and also managed Camelot Antiques in Easton for several years. He had made his home in Seaford for the past 20 years. Ed was a member and Past Master of Cambridge Lodge No. 66 A.F. & A.M., as well as Chesapeake Forest 115 Tall Cedars of Lebanon where he was a past scribe. He was a member of Choptank Memorial Post # 7460 VFW, National Eagle Scout Assoc and the New York State Snowmobile Assoc. He had been in failing health for the past year when he passed away at his home on Tuesday evening.

Survivors include a daughter Julie A. Peters and her husband Daniel Peters of Salisbury, one son David A. Shenton and his wife Nicole Shenton of Midlothian, VA, four grandchildren Trevor Peters, Conor Shenton, Laurel Shenton and Sophia Peters, one aunt Helen Haske and several cousins. He is also survived by a brother in law Robert F. Steele of East New Market. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Joan K. Steele.

Members of Cambridge Lodge No. 66 A.F. & A.M. will conduct a Masonic Memorial Service at the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM, which will be followed by a memorial service conducted by David W. Tolley. In lieu of flowers memorials contributions may be made o the National Eagle Scout Scholarship Endowment, P.O. Box 152079, Irving TX 75015-2079. Honorary pallbearers will be David Shenton, Daniel Peters, Trevor Peters, Kenneth R. Thomas, Jr. Stanley Place, Scott Moreau, Malcom Bahrenberg, Sandy Blackwell, Joe Shenton, Conor Shenton and Steve Anstine.
