C. Roy "Hank" Tyler, Sr., 57, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Mallard Bay Care Center. He was born in Cambridge on February 5, 1952 and was a son of Della Shorter Tyler and the late Henry H. Tyler.
Mr. Tyler graduated from Cambridge High School in 1970. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. Mr. Tyler had worked at Cambridge Wire Cloth as a machine operator until 9 years ago when his health started to fail. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing and playing baseball. He was a member of the Choptank Memorial Post 7460 VFW.
He is survived by his two children Michelle Tyler of Royal Oak and Charles Roy Tyler, Jr. of Cambridge and their mother Sharon Mowbray of Cambridge, a grandson Nathaniel Plagge, his mother Della Tyler of Cambridge, a sister Bonnie Young of Centreville, three brothers Mike Tyler of Easton, Mark Tyler of East New Market and Chris Tyler of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Henry H. Tyler.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Maryland Veteran's Cemetery Chapel near Hurlock with Rev. Fred Bahr officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd., Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
