Calvin Elzey, 70, of Woolford passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at his home. He was born in Dorchester County on April 25, 1940 and was a son of the late Robert L. and Della Wroten Elzey.

Mr. Elzey attended schools in Church Creek and in Cambridge. He served in the U.S. Navy. On October 10, 1964 he married the former Carolyn Rose Wheeler. He worked at Con Agra in Hurlock and retired in 2002. He was an avid reader, liked the History Channel and he loved his pet dog Chin. He was a member of the Choptank Memorial Post #7460 VFW.

He is survived by his wife C. Rose Elzey of Woolford, a daughter Vickie Moore Era of Cambridge, two grandsons T.C. Bradley and wife Della whom he raised of Cambridge and Casey North and wife Amanda of West Virginia, great grandchildren Grace Bradley, Lily Bradley, Taylor Tolley, Madison North and Nicholas North, seven sisters Sallie Crandell of Baltimore, Katie Crandell of Federalsburg, Doris Marshall of Hudson, Lucille Barnes of Woolford, Joyce Horseman of Madison, Brenda Willey of East New Market and Peggy Horseman of Madison and a brother Elwood Elzey of Madison. Besides his parents, Mr. Elzey is preceded in death by a daughter Candy Lee Elzey, two brothers Johnny Elzey and Robert L. "Buddy" Elzey and three sisters Louise Eskridge, Joanne Elzey and Ruth Lankford.

Pallbearers will be T.C. Bradley, Bill Smith, Sammy Horseman, Casey North, Gene Harper, Francis Sparks and Billy Smith.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with his great nephew Rev. Abraham Lankford officiating. Burial will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
