Carmen N. Jarrett, 84, of Cambridge passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016 at UMSMC at Dorchester. She was born in Fillmore, Utah on November 24, 1931 and was a daughter of the late Guy and Elsie Stevens Phelps.
Mrs. Jarrett graduated from Millard High School in Fillmore, Utah. After high school, she went to nursing school at Holy Cross Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah where she became a Register Nurse. She was employed at Holy Cross Hospital for three years and then moved to Cambridge in December of 1954. In June of 1955, she was employed at Cambridge Maryland Hospital with forty years of service. On August 10, 1954, she married Edward B. Jarrett, who passed away on April 21, 2015. Mrs. Jarrett enjoyed reading, crocheting, walking and traveling. She was a member of the Nurses Association and AARP.
She is survived by her son Glen Edward Jarrett and wife Brenda of Cambridge, three brothers Ronald Phelps of California, Larry Phelps and Eddie Phelps both of Utah, two sisters Helen Mitchell of Alaska and Linda Easley of Utah and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 12 pm at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. William Davis officiating. Interment will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Race Street, Cambridge, MD 21613 or to the Baywater Animal Rescue, 4930 Bucktown Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.
