Carolina I. Dawson

Carolina I. Dawson, 91, of Bishop's Head passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at her daughter's home in Cambridge. She was born in Keyser, West Virginia on December 17, 1921 and was a daughter of the late Elmer and Mary Jane Keckley.

On December 5, 1938 she married Quentin "Red" Dawson, who passed away on December 5, 1986. Carolina and Red made their home in Rawlings, Maryland before moving to Bishop's Head in 1943. She was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. Mrs. Dawson loved sewing and doing embroidery. She was a member of the Bay Country Church in Cambridge.

Mrs. Dawson is survived by six children Quentin S. Dawson, Shannon Dawson, Michael D. Dawson, Richard L. Dawson, Danny Dawson and a daughter Dottie D. Hoge. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, a brother Warner Shingleton and wife Alpha, sisters in law Vivian Shingleton and Viola Dietert, a brother in law Bill Dawson and many nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Dawson is preceded in death by sisters Pearl Carter, Lillian Barr, Virginia Patron, Hester Gordon, Hazel Shimmiger, Arlena Barkley, Gladys Flannagan and Louella Shingleton, a granddaughter April R. Dawson Ashton and a grandson Garrett Dawson.

Pallbearers will be Wade Dawson, Roy Wayne Meredith, Wyatt Dawson, Danny Dawson, Andy Dawson and Logan Parks. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Meredith, Jonathan Moore, Chris Moore, Billy Peterson, Joshua Peterson, Mike Hoge, Paul Wieciech, Timmy Moore, Ivan Bonneville and Reece Todd.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 1p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. D.J. Wooten officiating. Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Lakes-Straits Volunteer Fire Company, 2103 Farm Creek Road, Wingate, MD 21675 and Bay Country Bible Church, 714 Locust Street, Cambridge, MD 21613.
