Carolyn H. Smith

Carolyn H. Smith, 74 of Cambridge, passed away on Friday January 7, 2011 at the Anchorage Nursing Home in Salisbury. She was born in Baltimore on April 8, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Henry Monroe and Helen Kunkel Shenton.

She attended schools in Baltimore and graduated from Merganthaler Tech High School. On November 8, 1969 she was married to James L. Smith. Mr. Smith passed away on May 25, 2008. Carolyn was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cambridge and also was a member of the Women's Christian Association of Delmarva. She had also been active in the Auxiliary of Dorchester General Hospital. Before entering the Anchorage Nursing Home she had lived with her caregiver, Donna Willey in Cambridge. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Maryland Veterans Cemetery with the Rev. George W. Wheatley, Jr. officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary, P. O. Box 554, Cambridge, MD 21613 or Dorchester County Humane Society, P. O. Box 132, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
