Charles L. "Tony" Robbins

Charles L. "Tony" Robbins, 90, of Cambridge passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was born in Dorchester County on November 15, 1921 and was the son of the late Romie and Lillian Tall Robbins.

Mr. Robbins attended and graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1938. He married the former Anna Louise Carroll on November 9, 1951. He was employed with the United States Postal Service serving as a mail carrier. Tony served as Mayor of the City of Cambridge for two terms and also served on the City Council for two terms. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed coaching Pony League, Little League and also umpired through the 1960's-1970's. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Cambridge Lodge #1272, B.P.O.E., the Choptank Memorial Post #7460 VFW and the American Legion Post #91.

He is survived by his loving wife Anna Louise Robbins of Cambridge, a son Charles L. Robbins, Jr. and wife Sue of Kent Island, a daughter Debbie Gootee and husband Bruce of East New Market, two grandchildren Alison Gootee and Clayton Gootee and a brother Pete Robbins and wife Nancy of Linkwood. Besides his parents, Mr. Robbins was preceded in death by a sister Betty Pink.

Pallbearers will be Greg Robbins, Richard Blake, Russell Wroten and Greg Robbins, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Robbins and Ed Kinnamon.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 1p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Cambridge Little League, P.O. Box 1275, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
