Charles W. Tinley
November 28, 1948- September 30, 2024
Cambridge- Charles Wood Tinley was born on November 28, 1948 in Chestertown, Maryland. He was the son of Howard W. Tinley and Marjorie Wood Tinley. Charles was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister Ellen Noyes and her husband Rich of McKinney, Texas... He also leaves behind close friends Diane West and Larry Mills, who were like family to him, as well as many other cherished friends whose lives he touched in meaningful ways.
He attended grades 1-2 in Chestertown, before moving to Milford, Delaware where he attended grades 3-4. Finally moving to Cambridge where he attended grades 4-12, graduating from Cambridge High School in 1966. He was a member of the Cambridge High School band and was a Daily Banner delivery boy for 5 years. While attending Chesapeake College he worked at Airpax Electronics as a line worker/utility person. Upon graduation from Chesapeake College in 1970 he was promoted to Night Shift Supervisor. A few years later he started his career in Sales and Marketing at Airpax with the Microelectronic Packaging Products group and eventually became the Marketing Manager responsible for selling their products throughout the United States and several key overseas markets. He was responsible for selling/marketing to military subcontractors as well as nonmilitary markets. While at Airpax he received a patent for an electronic gold plating process. In 1998 he started a career with Caldwell Casting in Cambridge as their Sales Manager again working with the military market. He left Caldwell in 2014. He was a licensed real estate agent with Eastern Shore Properties, ESP Inc. for 25 years. In 2017 he created Hurst Creek Hot Sauce LLC (better known as Skeeter Beater) and served as the president and CEO.
He was a very active and relentless board member of the Bonnie Brook Association. He was most instrumental in the dredging project of Hurst Creek. He was a board member at the Dorchester County Sanitation Board and a board member at the Shore Resiliency Agency. He was a lifelong member of the ELKS BPOE Lodge # 1272.
Charles and his miniature Australian Shepherd, Cheyenne, joined Delmarva Pets on Wheels in the early spring of 2013. They visited local nursing homes as well as the Eastern Shore Hospital. Cheyenne was certified as a Therapy Dog Excellent by the AKC and had over 250 visits to local facilities. Cheyenne was a special dog and touched many lives of those she had visited. Charlie said he was just the Driver – Cheyenne was the one that made the magic happen. In 2019 Apache, another miniature Australian Shepherd arrived and assumed the workload and services of Cheyenne. Apache is still active keeping his master comfortable and will continue to visit nursing homes and Pets on Wheels duties.
One of Charlie’s greatest satisfactions was his extensive efforts being rewarded when Kyle Lindner became an Eagle Scout. An equally great endeavor was his “father-daughter like” relationship with Katie Lindner Bartlinski (husband Nicolas). Charlie adored Katie’s children Mallory and Tristan. Mallory wants to grow up to be just like Charlie.
Charlie, also known as C T and the “Skeeter Beater Man” will be missed by the community and will be remembered as the man who brought a smile to your face or a laugh for your heart.
We would like to thank "Charlie's Angels" and you know who you are.
