Christopher R. Cox, 61 of Cambridge, passed away at the Dorchester General Hospital on Saturday July 30, 2011. He was born at Isleworth, Middlesex England on September 29, 1949, and was a son of Violet Elsie Jones Cox and the late Leonard Arthur Cox.
He was born in England and attended schools there. Chris had worked as a computer operator for a concrete business in England. On September 8, 1976 he was married to the former JoAnn Cannon Bloodsworth. They made their home in England for the next 18 years. On June 3, 1994 they moved to Cambridge. Chris had worked at Dorchester General Hospital from 1994 until 2007, and had also worked at Super Fresh in Cambridge. He enjoyed working with computers, collecting stamps, gardening and was an avid Beatles fan. He had been in failing health since last October when he passed away at Dorchester General Hospital on Saturday.
Survivors include his wife JoAnn Cox of Cambridge, one daughter Robin L. Hughes and her husband Andrew J. Hughes, Jr. of Hurlock, three grandchildren A.J. Hughes of Taunton, MA, Tyler Hughes of Hurlock and Lindsey Hughes of Hurlock, his mother Violet Cox of Hanworth, U.K., two sisters Janice Harris of Addleston, U.K., Kathryn Cox of Hanworth, U.K., one brother Paul Leslie Cox of Warrington Cheshire, UK, several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 PM until 4:00 PM on Thursday, August 4th at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM with the Rev. A. Delmer Willey, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Fund of Chesapeake Woods Center, 525 Glenburn Avenue, Cambridge, MD 21613.
