Clifford E. Rogers, 87, of Charlotte Hall formerly of Cambridge passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. He was born in Georgetown, DE on October 11, 1921 and was a son of the late Hobart and Armenia King Rogers.
Mr. Rogers attended public schools in Georgetown, DE. In May of 1941 he married the former Bertha Andrews. She passed away on September 24, 1972. In 1980 he married the former Fannie Gore. She passed away on June 9, 1985 . He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and received the Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation Medal, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon. Mr. Rogers was self employed as a sawmill operator. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 91 .
He is survived by three daughters and sons in law Faye and Lynn Adams of Salisbury, Andrea and William N. Wright, Jr. and Jo Anne and Michael L. Baker all of Cambridge, a son and daughter in law Hobart and Bonnie Rogers of East New Market, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, a brother Warren A. Rogers of Sharptown, two sisters Althea R. Kennedy of Salisbury and Beverly Okie of Rehoboth Beach, DE and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Rogers is preceded in death by two sisters Dorothy R. Brinsfield and Irma R. Rider and two great grandchildren Austin Matthew Engle and Allison Annabelle Engle.
Pallbearers will be Billy Wright, Jr., Mike Baker, William Wright III, Lynn Adams, Bart Rogers and Philip Era.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge with Rev. Jay Hurley officiating. Burial will follow at the Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery near Hurlock. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
