Cora "Sue" Rosalie Nash, 2, of Trappe passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She was the daughter of Julie Kennedy and Lee Nash.
A true angel blessed us with her vibrant, loving presence for a little over two years. What began as a headache became an aggressive, malignant brain tumor, which rapidly destroyed Cora's brain. To our shock, God called her home within a week of her first symptoms - despite amazing efforts from the staff at the Johns Hopkins Children's Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. While grateful for her minimal suffering, we struggle to understand how God could take such a precious gift so soon.
Everything was an amazing wonder in Cora's eyes. Her curiosity was catching, her laughter contagious. She filled our lives with warmth, joy, and love. Ornery but sweet, smart yet silly, she was loving and so lovable in return. Cora loved reading "bookies," listening to Mommy sing "one more song," dancing to every tune, "flying" in Daddy's arms, snacking, and snuggling. The backyard was her favorite place to play barefoot and carefree, helping Mommy water the flowers. She loved her best buddy, Johnny, at daycare - two peas in a perfect pod. Sesame Street, commercial jingles, purses, hats, beads, animals, and family all made her grin. A beloved blue stuffed elephant named "Ellie," went everywhere with Cora, along with her little pink pacifier, "Ninny."
Cora held a strong bond to each of our hearts. She was our dream-come-true, our world, our everything. The brilliance of her love and the indescribable ache of her sudden departure will never fade - bittersweet, but cherished beyond measure. She lives on in our memories, our dreams, our hearts.
Cora is survived by many, all wishing her blue eyes still sparkled: mother, Julie Kennedy; father, Lee Nash; brother, Hunter Nash; great-grandmother, Ruth Nelson; grandmothers, Janice Kennedy and Cathy Nash; grandfathers, Jeff Kennedy and Victor Jones; uncles, Jeffrey Kennedy and Chuck Nash; as well as many cousins, friends, surrogate "Mom-Mom's," and extended family.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 12th at 6 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A., 700 Locust Street, Cambridge, Maryland 21613. Family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. The interment will follow on Thursday, September 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Dorchester Memorial Park, 5391 Aireys Road, Cambridge, Maryland 21613.
Donations will be placed into an account through M&T Bank to help cover Cora's medical and funeral expenses. Checks can be made to "Julie Kennedy", with a Memo Note, "Donation for Cora" and sent to: M&T Bank, Attn: Nancy A. Potter, Assistant Vice President, Cambridge Main, 405 Sunburst Highway, Cambridge, MD 21613.
