Mr. Willey attended schools in Cambridge. He had served in the U.S. Marine Corps from January 19, 1952 until January 19, 1954. On January 9, 1952 he was married to the former Gennia Lee Foxwell. For a number of years he worked as a stationary engineer at the Cambridge Maryland Hospital until he retired. Mr. Willey has made his home in Seaford since 1985. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a Life Member of Dorchester Post # 91 American Legion. He had been in failing health for several months when he passed away at his home on Saturday morning.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years Gennia Lee Willey of Seaford, two daughters Wanda J. Robinson of Cambridge and Tina Marie Layfield and her husband Roy Layfield of Delmar, Delaware, one son Bruce D. Willey and his wife Elaine Willey of Seaford, Delaware, eight grandchildren Craig Willey and his wife Jamie Willey, Denise Parsons, Adam Willey and his wife Katie Willey, Danielle Lee Willey and her husband Wade Willey, Nadia Robinson, Jamie Lynn Robinson, Amelia Marie Herek and her husband Richard Herek and Tate William Jackson, two step grandchildren Kristy Layfield and Angela Layfield. He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren Troy Davis, Jenna Leigh Willey, Kady Willey, Tyler Keyes, Jason Robinson, Noah Ryan Parsons, Brianna Parsons, Paige Parsons, Gage Andrew Willey, Abigail Willey, Auraede Marie Herek, three step great grandchildren Troy William Edward Adkins, Alivia Adkins and Nicole Vance, thee brothers Leroy Willey of Church Creek, Burnice Willey of Woolford and Robert Willey of Beaver Neck and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son William Daniel Burton, three sisters Lenora Robinson, Miranda Mowbray and Elsie Smith Foxwell and three brothers Emmitt R. Willey, Wilbert S. Willey and Orville Willey.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday morning at 11:00 AM at Old Trinity Churchyard with Chaplain Wilbur N. Newcomb officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Delaware Hospice Foundation, 100 Patriot's Way, Milford, Delaware 19963. Arrangements are being handled by the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
