Darren K. Todd, 54, of Cambridge passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton. He was born in Cambridge on September 12, 1958 and was a son of Reginald C. Todd and the late Doris Bell Johnson Todd.
He graduated from South Dorchester High School class of 1976, which was the last graduating class there. Darren worked on the water, and was a well known boat painter for many years. In the early 1980's, he had been instrumental in helping set up regulations for oyster diving. When Darren started working on the water he was following a tradition started by his great great grandfather James Ed Todd, his great grandfather Elwood Todd, his grandfather, Carroll H. Todd and his father Reginald Todd. He also had worked for the Electrolux Co., Best Buy Supply and later with Food Lion. Darren enjoyed bowling for many years and was an avid hunter and trapper. He attended Bethany United Methodist Church, St. Thomas United Methodist Church and also attended the Open Bible Church. For over 20 years Darren had been a faithful visitor at several local nursing homes.
He is survived by his daughter Brittany Nicole Hinch, his father Reginald C. Todd, one brother Darryl M. Todd, a step sister Joan Parks and two step brothers Jeffrey Bramble and W. Lance Bramble, four aunts Phyllis Mills, Flora Towers, Lorraine Aiello and JoAnn Todd, a great aunt Ethel Rippons, twelve cousins Lynne Mills, Dan Mills, Carl Aiello, Greg Aiello, Jeff Aiello, Lisa Cliver, Terri Towers, Kris Towers, Jeff Towers, Glenda McCarter, Amy Bennett and Lisa Todd. He is also survived by special friends Glen and Connie Ruark and Richard and Dawn Gatton. Besides his mother, Darren is preceded in death by his stepmother Gloria Belle Todd, paternal grandparents Carroll and Erma Todd, maternal grandparents Brice and Alice Johnson, uncles Glen Todd, Sr. and Chris Todd and two cousins Deborah Todd and Glen Todd, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Roger Morris, Bruce Abbott, Radcliffe Wheatley, John Holotik, Robert Holotik and Thomas Holotik. Honorary pallbearers Harolf Robinson and Robert Jones.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 1p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev.'s Richard Prahl and Sharon Prahl officiating. Interment will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A., 700 Locust Street, Cambridge, MD 21613 to help with funeral expenses.
