David Pearce Burleigh

David P. Burleigh, 82, of Vienna, MD, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake. He was born in Los Angeles, CA, on August 2, 1933, to the late Ralph W. and Margaret McKenney Burleigh.

Mr. Burleigh graduated from Hollywood High School, class of 1951. He was a pilot for the United States Navy, from which he retired after 20 years of service. David later became a Safety Marine Engineer for George C. Sharp Inc., where he designed safety systems for ships. He married the former Lougene Camper in Fairfield, AL, on December 22, 1958. Mr. Burleigh was an avid reader. He also enjoyed woodworking, handy work, gardening, and dancing. David loved to spend time with his wife, children, and especially his grandchildren.

David is survived by his wife of 56 years Lougene Burleigh of Vienna, a son Timothy W. Burleigh of Vienna, a daughter Beth Burleigh Fuller and her husband John Fuller of Reading, MA, a granddaughter Paige Burleigh, two grandsons Cameron P. Cieslak and Alex Fuller, a sister Ann B. Boucher, and a brother A. Peter Burleigh. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, David E. Burleigh.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 211 E. Lombard St., #109, Baltimore, MD 21202. Arrangements are in the care of Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge, MD.
