David H. Lewis, 60 of Cambridge passed away on Monday, June 24, 2013 at Dorchester General Hospital. He was born in Cambridge on September 13, 1952 and was a son of Mildred Harrison Lewis and the late Ralph C. Lewis.
David graduated from Cambridge High School class of 1970. He served in the Army National Guard. At the time of his passing, David was employed at the Dorchester County Detention Center. He was a drummer and a vocalist for E.S. Grit and later Golden Touch. David was a member of the American Legion Post #91 and Bucktown United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his two sons Joshua David Lewis of Massachusetts and Jad Coursey Lewis of Cambridge, three grandchildren, his mother Mildred Lewis of Cambridge, a brother Ralph Lewis, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Cambridge, two nieces Amy Weber and husband Chris and Wendy Hurley both of Cambridge.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Bringman, Mike Wright, Freddy Lewis, Steve Woolston, Eddie Collison, Mark Luthy and Bobby Lee Willey. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Handley and Bruce Zinn.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Pastor George W. Wheatley, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Bucktown Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Bucktown Cemetery Fund, c/o Franklin Knauer, 3275 Knauer Road, Cambridge, MD 21613.
